Adept Play
Twosie play means that two people are playing. It might be a game designed for more people but only two happen to be playing, or it might be a game specialized for two players only. Fun fact: until 2008, I didn’t think good two-player roleplaying design was possible – but changed my mind entirely due to experiences in play.
Eric and I played Mars Colony. We hadn’t ever played anything together; we set the game up on the Adept Play discord. I played the Savior Kelly Perkins, and Eric played the Governor role. I’ve played Mars Colony once before, about a decade ago, at a convention. My memory of that game is dim, but…
After a long-ish hiatus from the Runequest: Roleplaying in Glorantha duet, we jumped right to it when we started session 12 last weekend. And goddamn did we jump into the deep end. I’m going to relate the fictional events of play, then reflect on some questions of prep that the session raised. I’m planning on laying…
Whew! Another 3 sessions of the Runequest, Roleplaying in Glorantha duet under our belts. Though we’ve had some delays between sessions, we’ve internalized enough of the systems and setting that we’re able to get right to it when we start playing. In that spirit, I’m going to dive into this report. Some seriously consequential events…
This afternoon my duet buddy and I will be playing another session of Runequest: Roleplaying in Glorantha, and before we do I wanted to update my actual play record with two of the three sessions we’ve played since I posted last. Session 8: The Ambush The first session was occupied with the Wasp-Riders’ ambush of…
My duet buddy and I have played another two sessions of Runequest: Roleplaying in Glorantha. We agree that last session constituted a huge step forward in our game. This didn’t emerge ex nihilo. Dialog here at Adept Play laid the groundwork for it, and conversation with my fellow player helped us recognize it. But we accessed the…
Another two sessions of Runequest: Roleplaying in Glorantha, and things are getting bloody and wild. We spent a good amount of time going through the game’s seasonal experience system. I appreciate how the “Between Adventures” procedures require zooming out, letting the wheel of the seasons turn forward, and watching the characters in lower-stakes situations like work,…
Our third proper session was yesterday, and my and my duet buddy’s Runequest: Roleplaying in Glorantha game is starting to heat up. Backdrop and Situation We settled on a backwater Orlanthi stead for setting, close to the road to Whitewall. ‘Our’ clan are the Maul-Mouths, Olontongi who stubbornly held onto their ways (and their rivalry with…
Hi, this is a video of a recent session of S/Lay w/Me played by me and Sam. It includes a little chat from me beforehand about how we wound up getting this game together, some after-game reflections about what it was like, and plenty of rules talk and figuring-it-out during the game itself. That last…
It’s a good thing I reviewed my drives, because I found this game session played in March. I think it was the last time I went to Spelens Hus physically before shifting to screen play. Cold Soldier is an important game in terms of processes and learning. It has a way of breaking open one’s…
