Very long time couple of non roleplayers friends wanted to play a rpg, and got into vampire with one of their friends, last year. I asked them a few month ago how it went.

This is my most recent experiment in playing a system in pure referee-style, six three-hour sessions of Knave in the famous B/X module Keep of the Borderlands by Gary Gygax. Previously, I attempted forty hours of a 5e West Marches Campaign which was a mixed experience. My sense of “referee style” is to stick adamantly to the module’s direction for game elements and its implicit notions of what is and isn’t possible.

Back to the Vault! In this case, as GM'd by Adriano, who is going all-out in terms of locations for our Stalkers' hunting. I'm not sure what to tell you here except that our characters are also hitting hard right out of the gate - Lilith o'Bedlam (Noah), the Grey Witch (Alessio), and Hazard (me) - which I've generally found to be the case for this game. I've attached my information here and will add the others' if they wish.

About when I think it's time to retire the old email for good, as it mostly delivers spam whose algorithm is clearly confused, someone uses it for the only reason anyone should. Ransom contacted me to ask some questions about Sorcerer which led to this conversation. They were pretty deep questions, including positions regarding the occult and general thematic or intentional issues.

Reposted from a Discord conversation:

Small, silly story: we're playing Pathfinder 2 in a very 90s era, paladins-and-princesses, let's-pretend-this-story-makes-sense style. It's really like watching a bunch of 16 yo playing D&D for the first time. It feels quite nostalgic in the entire childish silliness of the drama.

I have to say, I feel a bit like Charles Marlow, relating a series of half-real half-imagined events to an unknown audience.

"'Try to be civil, Marlow,' growled a voice, and I knew there was at least one listener awake besides myself."

Introduction

Our final session, after Breakthrough and his daughter encountered Arachnon and his daughter at the comic convention, contained a GMing decision I want to ask about.

Here’s one of the two workshops I presented at Lucca. It was prompted by two short videos I posted here in the past few months: The role of the roll and Emergent plot techniques, which have led me to a generally larger argument.
