I continue grappling with Burning wheel, it seems. Recruitment text:

Back in 2019-2020, I've returned to TTRPGs by running "Burning Dwarven Fortress" campaign. It had been influenced by playing Dwarf Fortress video game back then. I've used Burning Wheel. Why? In Autumn 2019, I was looking for a game which suits DF's theme as best as possible and BW was my comfort and kinda OK choice. This game already explores Dwarven Greed, their magic affinities and skills (including construction and exploration). Which were other choices?

So last night’s Burning Wheel game was a rough, instructive and ultimately rewarding one for me. To explain why (to myself as much as you), I’m going to have to go into some detail about what has happened so far. You can skip to the “Reflections” below if you just want the takeaways.

In addition to my long running D&D game I am also running a Burning Wheel game. The game is heavily influenced by the Netflix animated series Castlevania. I have absolutely no love or even knowledge of the video game series the show is based on and had been largely ignoring it. When I decided to check it out, I was delighted to discover that it’s a beautiful and brutal Gothic swords & sorcery fantasy series.

I Burning wheel -spillet vårt oppdaga jeg at jeg setter stor fokus på sosiale ferdighetene og tolker dem som noe mer enn bare vanlig, vennlig tale.

Peluutin Palavaa pyörää (Burning wheel) joskus kauan sitten. Minun piti kertoa pelaajille (taustaa perinteisissä roolipeleissä ja D&D:ssä ja ehkäpä Menneisyyden varjojen kanssa) hahmonluonnista.

Here's a blessed event insofar as I can finally talk about role-playing content and procedures that are ordinarily kicked down the road. For me, Adept Play is a rousing success insofar as ideas can be introduced and resolved enough so that "next ideas" can actually be addressed, and I don't have to spray down the entry point with fire-extinguisher foam or, for that matter, disinfectant.

Ranrance was a Praedor character I played once when I had moved abroad and had no gaming group yet. A short-grown river bandit, whose main feature was owning a river ship. Why not convert them to the highly customized BECMI rules variant in use here, since I would otherwise never play him? So I did.

Part of hobby mythology concerns role-playing's origins as bringing tighter focus into table-top wargaming, such that within this or that battalion, or aboard this or that vehicle, the group can look closer and see Sergeant Bob or whoever running around, being a character, having opinions, and doing things.

It turned out to be a week for interviews. At long last, I may be conducting this "presence on social media" thing correctly, because people I don't know, working from venues I haven't encountered, have been getting in touch.
